I have been using a WO2P set up for as long as I can remember (including in my Filo Classic in Personal size) although I made some tweaks to the set up of the pages in my A5 (from Paperchase). I really like being able to see everything for the week at a glance but found it frustrating to have to flick through the pages in order to see what was happening in future weeks with regard to making plans and organizing events in the future. Today I sat down with some squared paper and have designed a Month calendar with a weekly pull out “side bar” so I can plan my month more effectively, from blog posts to appointments and arranging meetings. Here’s the first one I have designed and how it fits into my planner!
Week 11 (10/3/14 – 16/3/14) This week was my second week of using the 3 column divide for my days, essentially splitting my day into morning, afternoon and evening. I have , so far found this set up really easy to use and follow and it means I have been able to see at a glance what needs doing and when and when my free time is. This lay out has also helped me to see where I can allocate certain tasks and ensures that nothing is overlooked.
I went for an owl theme for this week as I had received the owl washi the week previous from a purchase I made on ebay. The owl stickers are probably my favorite, the ones in the bottom left (of the left page) and top right corner (of the right hand page) are made from felt! I got them and the other owl stickers from Accessorize. The black and white chevron style washi that has been used as part of the centre page detail was part of a set from The Range. I used line stickers in silver and black to outline the pages, I really wish I knew where these were from as I find them so useful! I was gifted the Owl ribbon paper clip as part of a RAK.
Week 12 (17/3/14 – 23/3/14) I went for an aqua blue theme for this week and love the contrast of the blue with the pink of my planner! I used 2 different washi’s (both came together as part of a 2 pack from The Range). The dots washi is a bit narrower than the stripes which is a nice change as most of the washi’s I have found tend to be the same width. The star dot stickers and bird stickers were gifted to me in RAK’s and the little cloud stickers were from Accessorize. The paper with my color code on it, and the Project Life card were also gifted as part of RAK’s. I decided not to use the line stickers this week as I seem to be using them all the time and I’m running out of them, instead I opted for a blue highlighter to differentiate between the week days.
Week 3 (13/1/14 – 19/1/14) This was my first week of adding anything in to my pages which wasn’t just plain sticky notes, the Cat sticky notes were from a set of sticky notes which I purchased from Accessorize. The “to do” sticky note came from WH Smiths. This week was one of the busiest I’d had as I was working on my dissertation as well as working full time.
Week 4 (20/1/14 – 26/1/14). Another fairly plain week as I was still busy with my dissertation and work. I got the washi tape from Paperchase and the owl, butterfly, deer and squirrel stickers came from Accessorize. The “to do” sticky note was the same as before.
Week 5 (27/1/14 – 2/2/14) This week was a bit more decorated 🙂 . I used star washi from Paperchase and embellished it with some stick on gems from The Range, owl and squirrel stickers from Accessorize and some straight outline stickers, with glitter on them, to divide up my days a bit more. I also used a Project Life card that had been sent to me in a RAK, which I secured using sticky hole re-enforcers, this was used as extra space to secure some post-its to that had lists on them which needed to be done but didn’t really have an assigned day to do them in.
Week 6 (3/2/14 – 9/2/14) This weeks theme was black and white with a hint of sparkles. I bought the black and white chevron style washi from The Range, it came with another washi tape which was white with black polka dots. I used a postcard from the book Everything is Connected by Keri Smith to create extra space for lists etc, again I used some straight outline stickers to ad interest to the page edges and used some diamante photo corners on the bottom left and top right of the pages.
Week 7 (10/2/14 – 16/2/14) This weeks theme was brights! I got the washi tape from The Range, the bug stickers came from Tesco, heart gem stickies came from Poundland, the smiley face stickers (which are fuzzy!!!!) came with a plant I had ordered online, the heart sticky notes were sent to me in a RAK, the flower sticky note came from a set that I bought in The Works book store and I used glitter straight outline stickers to divide out my days.
Week 8 (17/2/14 – 23/2/14) was a fairly busy week but not in terms of planning. I was working on my dissertation for the most part and spent a lot of my time hidden away in my spare room writing. I decorated this set of pages with washi from The Range, glitter straight outline stickers and not much else.
Week 9 ( 24/2/14 – 2/3/14) was butterfly/pink themed. I used bunting washi from The Range, straight outline stickers to divide up my days and add interest to the edges of the pages, photo corner stickers from The Range, butterfly stickers that I’d been gifted to me in a RAK which were overlaid with butterfly outline stickers and embellished with some sticky gems (both from The Range)
Week 10 (3/3/14 – 9/3/14) I started trying out a different way to lay out my week using the same WO2P inserts that I already have, I decided to divide the pages into 3, 1 for morning, afternoon ad evening so I can see at a glance what is happening where and what time each day instead of having to read through a load of writing. I also bought in a color coding system of different color pens for different items (I’m using Triplus Fineliner pens, I love them!) I went for a blue theme for this week using blue stripey washi from The Range layered with printed “Follow Your Dreams” tape over the top (from Etsy) and glitter straight outline stickers to mark the days. I used a postcard from Kari Smith’s book “Everything is Connected” to create room for lists which I decorated with the same washi tape that I used on the page top and bottom and a corner sticker from The Range.
My Current Collection
L-R – Paperchase – A5, Filofax Classic – Personal, Filofax Domino – Pocket
I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember, sometimes that planner has taken the form of a diary and a ton of sticky notes and note pages hap-hazardously crammed in to it, other times I have used a proper planner. The first planner I owned was a tan and green cloth covered, ring bound Collins planner that I used for most of my secondary school life. I don’t really count the Fun Fax I owned prior to that as I just used that to collect stickers in and all the books that went in it! I then moved to a purple with silver fleck fun fur pocket planner from Claires (around 1998) which I really loved, when I was in college. I then finished college and ditched the planner habbit for a bit as I didnt really have a use for one, deciding to keep all my info in a shop bought yearly diary. Once I started working and had a “proper” job I treated myself to a pink Filofax Classic in personal sized, which I love and still have to this day, although its not used as much. I have tried a Domino in purple, pocket sized but found it a little too small, before moving back to my Classic. I have tried a pocket black Saffino and same sized Metropol which I liked both of, but again found too small. I am now using an A5 Paperchase 6 ring planner as it gives me a bit more space for planning my life at the moment. I run 3 blogs, including this one, am in University in my 3rd year of a BA Course in Photo Art, sitting a City and Guilds Level 2 qualification in Nail Technology, and have 2 jobs that I need to keep tabs on, as well as “life events” (birthdays, car tax, insurance, anniversaries, you know, the everyday stuff!)
I have recently gotten interested in decorating my planner pages, which, as an “arty” type who enjoys crafts and scrap-booking, has bought me immense pleasure as it is quicker and easier than making scrap book pages (something I have not got the time for atm!), and am a member of several really fab Facebook groups dedicated to the decorated page! I am also a member of several RAK groups, (Random Acts of Kindness) where you can choose people to send things to, the groups I have joined are all planner/stationery related, and the support, advice and help they offer is really handy when you want to talk about aspects of life planning, and setting up a planner to suit your life and style.
I set this blog up as a means for me to document my planner and weeks, and to show how I use it, from the WO2P layouts (week on 2 page) that I am favoring at the moment to decorations for pages and where to buy the stationery to decorate away. Id like this blog to become a journey for me, and hope that I can pick up some like minded friends along the way! 😀
