Gift Ideas

Welcome back to the latest installment of the Planner Girls Collective posts!  This is my tenth post in collaboration with Planner Girls Collective (you can find all other posts here) – a group of like minded planner girls who will be blogging each week on the same subject and then linking to each others posts afterwards.  Today the topic is “Gift Ideas for Stationery Lovers”.

  1. Washi Tapes, if you know a stationery lover and their birthday is coming up then you can pretty much guarantee the gift of washi tape will put a smile on their face! For bonus points why not get a few rolls of different thickness, Hobbycraft have a great range that you can co-ordinate.
  2. Sticky notes always make a fab gift for the stationery lover, and whats more is there are so many different, fun designs out there, whether you search in high street stores, your local supermarket or online, there is sure to be something to appeal to them!  Check out Paperchase for some super fun designs!
  3. How about a set of pastel highlighters?  These ones are super cute and are erasable as well!
  4. Cute notebooks, whether it is just one, or a set, they always come in handy!  I love the Paperblanks ones.
  5. How about a pretty but functional desk tidy?  One with drawers makes it even more handy.  This one is lovely!
  6. You could get a pencil case and fill it with all manner of stationery items.  Smiggle does a brilliant range!
  7. You can’t go wrong with a mug, it can be used for drinks or as a plant pot or for keeping stationery together, Kiki-K have a lovely one, or for something truly unique how about browsing on Etsy?
  8. And while we are on the topic of etsy…have you seen the lovely ranges of stationery related jewellery that is available?
  9. A journal to track life and thoughts makes a perfect stationery lovers gift.  This Kate Spade one is perfect.
  10. And finally how about a planner charm?  If the Stationery Lover uses a ring bound planner/Filofax, or a planner of any kind then one of the ones I make would make a brilliant gift for a stationery lover!

2017 Set-Up

I saw the New Year in with my lovely personal Filofax Malden in Kingfisher blue that my boyfriend bought me for my birthday.  I had her all set up by Christmas Day for 2017.  Here’s my set up in her for this year…

Here’s a little flick through in pictures!  🙂

All inserts are from Filofax and are available here

The Dashboard and dividers were made by me!  There will be a tutorial at some point on this blog on how to make your own!  The laminated cards are from Project Life and laminated by myself, they have a use that will be revealed soon!  🙂

How have you set up your planner for the year?

Diary Inserts – Day to a Page

When I first had a planner (way back when I started my first full time job) I used the pages that came with it to record all my appointments and important information (week on one page) which was fine at the time as I’d transitioned from a teeny pocket diary the previous year. Once the year was out though, I had to buy new diary pages and got, well, a wee bit overwhelmed by the choice of formats out there. When deciding on the format and running of this years posts I decided it would be fun to explore the different types of diary inserts out there and hopefully save a lot of others being baffled to!  So, today I’m going to talk about Day to a Page (or D2AP) inserts.

Day to a page diary inserts are literally that, one day covers one page. And this format is available in all sizes for your planner.  I used to use day to a page inserts when I was running between 2 jobs, college and university as I had enough space to write down all my plans and other notes too, such as shopping lists, reminders and meal plans.  The space was enough to record each part of my day and any homeworks I was given as well. And, I could see at a glance my plans for the following day.

This type of insert is brilliant if you are busy, have a lot of things to do or reminders or if you have a family and need the extra space to write any family reminders down.

There are several other uses for Day to a Page inserts such as for using as a diary or journal, a day to day scrapbook or art journal, daily story writing, poems, the list goes on and on, the only limits are your mind and creativity!

Filofax do a range of day to a page inserts which I love for their simple design. The paper quality is ok but you may get some shadowing of ink through the page if you are not careful.

Paperchase is another favourite for  inserts. The paper quality seems a bit better than Filofax which is surprising to me.

And a hunt around on Etsy will come up with some lovely, well designed day to a page inserts for you to purchase and print yourself at home.

Let me know if you use Day to a Page inserts and what you use them for in the comments section below!!! I’m really interested in hearing about new ways of using your diary pages!

Hope you are having a good Bank Holiday!!!
