Plans

Plans is a sub category that I used a lot when I was in college and University, it was similar to a to-do list but more specifically orientated around things I wanted to do rather than things that needed to be done in a certain time frame, for example, things like watch xyz tv show, rent out movie to watch one weekend, visit museum, etc.  I started a Plans section so I could group all these random wants together as a sort of brain dump and ideas page for when I was bored or in need of inspiration.  I don’t have a Plans section any more which I thought was a good thing, I use my week on 2 pages and post its to write things down on but I loose ideas and things I want to do/watch/visit/look at/read/make within those pages and forget to flick back through to obtain the data I want.  Perhaps it is time to bring the Plans pages back?

Do you record your plans separately?  What do your pages look like?  Mine were always a jumble of different colored pens and scrawled writing and crossing out

Birthday/Occasion Reminder

I love getting new diary inserts and being able to start planning out my year – writing out birthdays, bank holidays, special occasions and other things that happen through the year, however, one of the downfalls that I face sometimes is forgetting the occasion until the week that it falls in.  Maybe this is because I use WO2P and only really look at the week I’m in or the next week on, rarely do I flip more than a week ahead which means I can sometimes miss things until they are on top of me so to speak.

I have done a bit of research and reading (well, looking at others planner set ups on facebook and instagram) and having a section set up for all these occasions seems like a good idea, and there are so many ways in which to set up a Birthday/Occasions Reminder so there should be some kind that will fit with everyone’s planning style!

In my next post on “Set Up” I will be taking you through how to set up a few styles of Occasions Reminders!

How do you keep track of Birthdays and Occasions at the moment?

Thoughts – February

I have really surprised myself, normally by now I would be having layout and planner envy and wishing that I had set up my planner in a different way or be wanting to introduce something else into my planner to “try”, but this has not happened yet…. Maybe I have found the elusive “Planner Peace” finally?

I am still enjoying decorating my pages and filling in my plans week to week, the only tweak I have made is the addition of tiny post-its which I write future plans on and date before sticking to the relevant day if the week has not yet been decorated.

I have been using Oodlemadoodles kits for a short while and I am loving the inclusion of the meal plan stickers (little circles with knife and fork motif’s) which have been helping me to plan my meals (and shopping lists).  I am usually a really lousy meal planner and just grab something and go , and while this has worked in some ways, in others it hasn’t (like it can be a pretty unhealthy way to eat…) so meal planning is something new but is helping me diet wise and also time wise – less faffing around and thinking about what to have, and it’s something I think I may just stick with planner wise!

Here’s a look back at the last few weeks layouts..

This Weeks Spread (for week 13th -19th Feb)

img_9540

This weeks spread is using a kit by Oodlemadoodles called Foxy Love.  I chose this kit as it incorporates hearts and cute foxes and is perfect for Valentines day/week as its not too obviously Valentines.  I really like the zigzag and stripe prints and the orange and pink tones.  I decided to rotate the box stickers by 90 degrees so they fit better within the day spaces – I think I am going to use these to write my day to day chores in.

Here’s a look back at last weeks pages…

This Weeks Spread (for week 23-29th Jan)

Here’s this weeks spread in my personal sized Kingfisher Blue Filofax Malden.  I bought the watermelon weekly kit from Filofabulouss a few weeks ago and decided to use it for this week’s spread as it is bright and colorful!  I love Sarah’s weekly kits, they are budget friendly (for this kit and other filofax personal ones they work out at £2) and have enough stickers in them to not overwhelm the spread or have leftovers on the sheet that end up not being used!  I really like the “Hydrate” stickers, which I spoke about in this post as they help me keep on track with my liquid intake.  The other stickers (the hoover, spray bottle and bin) are from KayeLimePie but I’m not sure where the other stickers are from (the circle laundry/recycle or trolleys) as I recieved them in a RAK.  I like these stickers as I can see at a glance what needs doing without it getting lost in lots of other writing!

Here’s the end of last weeks layout where I used a weekly kit from KayeLimePie!  You can find more information here!

Inspirational Quotes

pgcinspirationalquotes

This is my second post in collaboration with Planner Girls Collective – a group of like minded planner girls who will be blogging each week on the same subject and then linking to each others posts afterwards.

This weeks Planner Girls Collective post is about inspirational quotes.  At first I didn’t think I really had any quotes to share apart from my secondary dashboard that used to reside in my Temperley for Filofax Ikat Compact wallet and now lives behind my main dashboard and separates my information sheet from the rest of my planner inserts.

img_9360

This is an Oscar Wilde quote which I have loved for years and found in a Tiffany Jewellery catalogue in 2015.  I cut it out and punched it and it has happily sat behind a clear dashboard in my Temperley for the past year.  I  moved it over to my Filofax Malden in Kingfisher blue when I set it up, the color almost matches!  This quote reminds me to embrace my creative side and either be a creative being and make my life a beautiful place – “be a work of art”, or dress creatively and embrace the quirky fashion sense and accessories that I like “wear a work of art” and to never be afraid to be unique.

I have a diary that I bought for planning my blog posts that has this on the front of it

img_9361

which always makes me smile.  I didn’t really make any resolutions at the beginning of the year but evaluated what I love doing and how I could be better at that, and blogging was one of them.  I currently run 2 blogs that are active (this one and https://tenthousandsteps2016.wordpress.com ) and decided that I wanted to blog more regularly and this diary was chosen for that front!  It reminds me that in order to succeed I need to plan, and to plan I need to write down and schedule things!  This diary has a schedule of all my blog posts mapped out for the whole year and, so far, I am sticking to that schedule!

Other quotes that I find inspirational are

img_9332-1

This quote reminds me that the whole earth is alive and that the trees and plant life are at the very heart of this life – they provide our oxygen and without them then we would ease to exist.  It puts everything into perspective for me, and sometimes, when everything gets too much, a walk into the woodland can realign my thoughts and calm me.

img_9362

This quote is just a reminder that whatever bad happens, it can be the best thing to happen sometimes.  We learn from bad things and grow and that can make us better people and change our perspective, our attitude and our outlook.

img_9364

This quote is really relevant as I spend so much time worrying about materialistic things – money, objects, jobs, etc…it reminds me to let go, stop worrying and start living in the moment, don’t catastrophize, and stop wasting energy and time on insignificant things.

img_9363

This last quote is one of my favorites, I spent so much time last year just sorting, re-arranging and caring for belongings that are no more than objects.  This year I am trying to minimize my belongings and stop wasting time organizing them and not using or utilizing them which will give me more time to enjoy my home, friends, family and hobbies!

This Weeks Spread (for week 16 -22nd Jan)

This weeks spread is decorated using a kit from Kaye Lime Pie on Etsy.  I ordered this kit a while ago as it caught my eye with its bright fun colours and cute stationery theme.  The day/date cover up stickers are by Filofabulouss.  I chose the cover up stickers as they seemed to go well with the kit and I don’t like all the information next to the date that came printed on my inserts (Filofax cotton cream in Personal sized) and these worked perfectly to cover that information up!

So, here’s my spread for the week!!!

Here’s the end of last weeks spread for you to see, you can find the post relating to this spread here

Don’t forget that I can be found on Instagram and Etsy !!!

Hope you have a lovely week!!! xoxox

Other Inserts – Information

This is another new addition to my blog 🙂  “Other Inserts” focuses on any insert that you can get which is not diary based, the first in this series looks at the Information sheet that is usually included with shop bought diary inserts and looks a bit like this

img_9342

This is one of the first things I fill in when I am setting up my planner for the year, usually with a new pen and my best handwriting, I like the newness of the page and being able to update information that may otherwise have expired, been crossed out or written over.  I think this is one of the most important sheets to fill in as well, it makes the diary and planner truly yours and identifies it as having an owner and belonging.

The Information (or Important Information as it is sometimes referred to) is really useful for you to see at a glance, and be able to find easily, numbers you may need in an emergency, or numbers and data that people may need if you are caught up in an emergency.  I have not yet filled in this sheet (I’m still using last years Information sheet) but am going to be filling it in soon, laminating and punching it before placing it at the front of my planner, behind the dashboard.  I totally recommend laminating this page as it will get a fair bit of battering over the year and placing it toward the front of your planner just so that it is easy to find in an emergency.

If you don’t have one of these sheets then you can type or write up your own version and add it to your planner.

Have you made your own Improtant Information sheets? What does it look like?

The next episode of Other Inserts will be up on my blog on 6th Feb!  catch you then

2017 Set-Up

I saw the New Year in with my lovely personal Filofax Malden in Kingfisher blue that my boyfriend bought me for my birthday.  I had her all set up by Christmas Day for 2017.  Here’s my set up in her for this year…

Here’s a little flick through in pictures!  🙂

All inserts are from Filofax and are available here

The Dashboard and dividers were made by me!  There will be a tutorial at some point on this blog on how to make your own!  The laminated cards are from Project Life and laminated by myself, they have a use that will be revealed soon!  🙂
